Eye Exams

Optical

Our opticians have more than 50 years of combined experience.  They are ABO (American Board of Optician) certified and remain current with optical industry trends through annual continuing education.  They are here to serve you by listening and providing optimal solutions to your needs.

Contact Lenses

At Balcones Eyecare, contact lenses are our specialty!  Our doctors offer the most recent advances in contact lens technology.  Newer contact lens materials and advanced lens designs are allowing more and more individuals to wear contact lenses today than ever before.  We work with each individual to determine the most appropriate lens modality and type for you.  We offer a variety of lens types from soft lens disposables to rigid gas permeable, and provide a large range of wearing options from daily disposables to multifocal lenses.

LASIK (Refractive Surgery)

LASIK (Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) surgery has thrilled many of our patients by allowing them to see without their glasses or contact lenses.  Balcones Eyecare is affiliated with a surgeon and surgical center that uses the latest, most advanced laser technology available today.  A customized plan is created for each patient that helps ensure the best possible visual outcome.  All surgeries are performed with Intralase – a blade-free laser technique that minimizes surgical anxiety by providing a safer, more comfortable, and patient friendly method of correction.  We educate all of our patients on the advantages and disadvantages of LASIK so that they may make a well-informed decision about their future vision.  We are dedicated to providing the best possible outcome for our patients.

Optomap

The Optomap Retinal Exam is used by our doctors to get an ultra-wide field view of the retina (the back of the eye).  While eye exams include a look at the front of the eye to evaluate health and prescription changes, a thorough screening of the retina is critical to verify that your eye is healthy.  A retinal evaluation is critical for the detection of common diseases such as retinal detection, glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration and even cancer.  In the past, only by using drops to dilate the eyes could we examine the back of the eye.  Now with this new advanced technology we can examine the back of the eye in a quick, painless procedure, often without the need for dilation.  The optomap image is immediately available for you to view and discuss with our doctors.
